Rachel Robins Beard

“Remember, remember always, that all of us, and you and I especially, are descended from immigrants and revolutionists."
― Franklin D. Roosevelt

Europeans who made the voyage to America faced a difficult journey of several months.

Rachel Robins Beard was baptized on November 20, 1631 at St. Mary Magdalen Church on Milk Street in London, England. She was the daughter of Edward Robins and Jane Cornish and the step-daughter of George Puddington.

She came to America with her family in 1635 on the ship Thomas.

She married Richard Beard. Their children and life together are described in detail in the section on Richard and Rachel Beard.

St. Mary Magdalen Church, Milk Street, was a small parish church in London. It was Roman Catholic until the Reformation. It was destroyed in the Great Fire of London in 1666.
